This was so lovely to read. I'd been feeling a little meh about my own poetry, like it was a cop out for the novels that I really wanted to write. But reading this has made me realise that every word I've written (poetry or otherwise) has been another ingredient in my secret sauce 🫙 Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

At the moment, every time I worry that my Byron historical novel’s too gosh darn weird an idea and just too much to ever finish, I get a message from the universe saying “No, you need to stick with it.” It’s just happened again.

I write a bit like I’ve fallen out of a time rift from the 19th century. But then, I have a vivid memory of what it felt like to read ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ at a formative age. I’ve always loved old stories and tales too, especially the spooky and gothic featuring transformation. Isn’t it funny how these things make us?

And I’ve said this before, but love that you love fairy boss Eoin Colfer like me 😜
