The Epistle
Monstrous events, the DOWRY paperback drop, and everything I've been loving lately.
Welcome back to the Epistle, beloveds. Breathe in the incense smoke, don your robes, and find a comfortable seat in the ceremonial circle.
News
I’ve got all sorts of good news to share in this edition of The Epistle, including events and the widespread availability of DOWRY paperbacks!
Events
We’ve got two exciting author events coming to you! On February 2, Rose Szabo, author of the very anticipated WHAT BIG TEETH, and I are going to be talking about sexy monsters and gothic reimaginings. I just got my hands on an arc of their book and I can’t wait to devour it. A huge thank you to Astoria bookstore for hosting us! The event is free, but be sure to sign up in advance to save your spot in the crowdcast.
Secondly, the reading group over at Romancing the Gothic will be discussing A DOWRY OF BLOOD on February 18th, and I’ll be swinging by in the second half of the session to answer audience questions! Dr. Sam offers such amazing lecture and conversation series, so be sure to sign up for all the Romancing the Gothic goodness.
Dowry Paperbacks
The wait is over and the day is finally here! A DOWRY OF BLOOD paperbacks are now available widely for preorder, through my publisher’s website, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble. If you’ve been waiting to grab your copy of this dark and sexy Dracula’s brides reimagining, now is the time! Can you believe we’re only seventeen days away from publication day?
Everything I’ve Been Loving Lately
To be quite honest, my mental health has been quite the rollercoaster lately, so I’ve just been hanging on and getting through each day as best I can. Some days are bright and light and full of productivity, and others are heavy and sluggish and mostly entail me scrolling through Twitter and listening to ASMR videos on Youtube. But I’m on the mend and doing my best to take good care of myself, reach out to friends often, and get some sunlight and exercise when I can.
I’ve been devouring an agent sibling’s historical romance about kings in love despite their opposed interests, and that has dragged me out of one of my infamous reading slumps. And I’ve been trying to write and share a little bit more about what’s been going on in my writing life, too, which brings me to:
For a long time, Instagram didn’t feel very hospitable to me. Mostly because I wasn’t really letting myself play or take artistic risks on the platform. I was tight-lipped about my life and my writing projects because a mishmash of people followed me, and I was too worried about what they might want from me or think of me. But recently, I’ve reclaimed the space as being for me and my enjoyment first, and for connecting with like-minded people right after that.
So I’ve started sharing a lot more longform content about life as a working artist and my writing process over there. Getting more vulnerable has been scary but rewarding, and part of my ultimate aspiration towards more authenticity. I would love to connect with you over there, if you like hanging around on Instagram too!
That’s all I have for your this week, darling devotees, but as always, I’m happy you’re here and I’m happy that I get to do this work and share it with you. Be safe and well until we two meet again.
