The Epistle
New Years resolutions, an Italian translation, and everything I've been loving lately.
Welcome back the the Epistle, dear reader. Loop your prayer beads around your wrist and find a comfortable seat in the pews. It’s a shiny new year and I’m back with another newsletter for you.
News
DOWRY is going to Italy!
I’m overjoyed to announce that A DOWRY OF BLOOD is going to be translated into Italian by Tiffany Vecchietti and published by Mondadori. The news took me completely by surprise, and I never dreamed that my little vampire book would be travelling around the world and being translated into different languages! Fingers crossed that this is just the first of many translations to come!

Everything I’ve Been Loving Lately
Once Upon A Time…At Bennington College
My latest podcast obsession is this dishy, fabulously well-researched 14-episode series on the infamous Bennington college in the eighties, and the three writers who all went to school together at the same time: Bret Easton Ellis, Donna Tartt, and Jonathan Lethem. For fans of literati gossip, dark academia vibes, and life-of-the-artist portraits, this podcast reached out and grabbed me.
This was especially interesting for me as a die-hard Donna Tartt fan ( I’m currently working through a re-read of THE SECRET HISTORY) because the woman is so elusive and private. Lili Anolik’s exploration of her life is incisive and thought-provoking. You liked Who is The Bad Art Friend? You’ve got to listen to the autobiographical lifting Donna Tartt did while writing THE SECRET HISTORY. Then, in true Donna style, get your writer friends together for martini hour and Discuss.
New Years Resolutions
Dear reader, I love New Years. I love the champagne and the spangled dresses, the ball drop and the chilly midnight kisses, the icy sheen of potential on the whole world. I also love productivity systems and a new year means a brand new bullet journal for me. I chose a green theme for January to represent new things growing.
My card of the month was The Star, which represents deep spiritual and emotional healing. I always call it the shaky, cleansing breath you take after a long cry, the one that finally ushers in peace. December was all about having hard conversations and resting from them, and January is going to be all about healing, I believe. It helps that I’m sick right now, so I’m forced to slow down as focus of nurturing myself.
My New Year’s resolutions include getting back into vintage fashion and style, making time for leisure, moving my body more, signing a handful of wonderful new clients, and journaling and taking pictures of myself to document my joy. They’re a rebellion against another gray pandemic year, and they’re giving me hope that brighter times are coming. What are some of your New Year’s resolutions?
That’s all I have for you this week, dear reader, but I’ve got a veritable bouquet of publishing secrets that I hope I’ll be able to share with you soon! Until then, be so safe and well until we two meet again.

The Epistle
I’m not sure what kind of vintage fashion you like, but I just bought some clothes from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury Etsy shop. I should be getting them next week. I pretty much want to buy out the shop
