Welcome back to The Epistle, dear reader! Ease your way down the cobblestone streets, bathe in the moonlight, and salute the evening star.
I am slowly getting my body clock back on American time after galavanting through England and Scotland with my publishing and publicity team for my UK tour. I am absolutely overwhelmed by the love, energy, and electricity my readers brought to each and every event, and I will forever treasure our signing lines conversations!
I’ll share some tour pics below, but first up!! I have news!
News
EVOCATION is an instant #1 Sunday Times Bestseller, and it hit the USA Today Bestseller list as well!
EVOCATION has been a 7-year-long labor of love. So much of all the things I care about, so much of everyone love, and so much of everything I am have gone into this book, and I honestly thought for a while there it might never get out into the world. It was too esoteric, too queer, too poly, too messy, to power-of-lovey. But my agent never gave up on me, and then Angry Robot swooped in and worked overtime to get this book into the hands of so many loving readers. Thank you for loving David, Rhys, and Moira, and the tangled little triangular web they weave. I can’t wait to take you on more soap-opera adventures with them in the future.
Haven’t met this magical disaster throuple yet? Good news: EVOCATION is now out in the world wherever you like to buy books!
Events
If you missed me in the UK, there’s upcoming chances to catch me stateside at my Northeastern US tour! Events are selling out fast, but there are still tickets, so be sure to grab yours before they disappear. I won’t inundate you with buy links, but simply navigate to the site of your favorite bookstore to RSVP!
UK TOUR RECAP
Oh, England, oh, Scotland, I love you! I can’t even do a succinct round-up of everything lovely and memorable that happened on this trip, but from two hour signing lines to making new author friends on the train to personalizing books at Comic Con to celebrating queer love beneath the stained glass of an Edinburgh church, this is a tour I will never forget. Thank you for every handwritten letter, every friendship bracelet, every bit of art and all the happy tears. I love y’all!
EVERYTHING I’VE BEEN LOVING LATELY
I’m getting back into reading after listening to Anne Rice’s Claiming of Sleeping Beauty audiobook, because there’s nothing like a little classic 90s erotica to ignite that love of the written word! I absolutely swooned and smiled all through listening to the very talented Oscar Reyes narrating the EVOCATION audiobook, but I also have a short story recommendation for you!
Do yourself a favor and read Yoon Ha Lee’s story “Variations On An Apple”, free to read in Reactor! It’s gorgeous, crystalline triumph, a sort of slipstream scifi Fall of Troy story in which Paris gives the apple to the city, his lover, sealing its fate. It’s a fantastically strange reimagining threaded through with gleaming five-dollar-words with a tragic (queer!) love story at it’s heart. What more could you want?
That’s all I have for you this week, dear reader! Be so safe and well until we two meet again!
