Welcome back to the epistle, all ye seekers and heretics! Don your white robes, light the springtime bonfires, and crown yourself with flowers. I’m happy to be back with another newsletter for you. Let’s jump right in!
News
I’m thrilled to announce that our darling A DOWRY OF BLOOD is going to b translated into Spanish and Polish! The brides are truly going international, and I’m over the moon about it. If you live in either country, keep your eyes peeled for a gorgeous new translation coming to you soon!
In addition to all this goodness-in-translation, I have finished the final proofing of the A DOWRY OF BLOOD re-release, and so, in celebration, I want to share a little glimpse of what the interior of the new edition looks like. It’s gothic drop caps and romantic flourishes all the way.
Events
I’m going to be in virtual conversation with the phenomenally talented K. M. Szpara, author of DOCILE and FIRST BECOME ASHES, about queering the vampire and writing the gothic this Wednesday May 4th at 1:00 pm EST. Registration is free, but you do have to register to grab your spot. Come join us for a spooky, sexy good time!
Everything I’ve Been Loving Lately
Scotland
As some of you may know, I took a two week trip to Scotland with a dear friend last month, and the experience was nothing short of magical. We climbed around ruined castles, hiked out to waterfalls and faery glens, sampled whiskey and local fare, slept in fifteenth century buildings, drove out to the cliffs at the edge of the world, and learned so much about Scottish history and culture. If you want a peek at my adventures, I suggest following me on Instagram at @stigbsonatuhor! I’m once again updates-only on Twitter, so Insta is the quickest way to receive my updates.
A New WIP
In addition all this adventuring and wandering, Scotland cracked open a story inside me that has me by the throat. It’s a m/f/m/f folkloric fantasy romance trilogy (!) and this one has got:
🌿 long-standing faery feuds
🌿 brooding Byronic lady antiheroes
🌿 springtime sex games
🌿 marriage of convenience
🌿 ancestral obligations to the land
🌿 friends as lovers and lovers as family
I can hardly believe it, but I’ve written over 27,000 words of this novel in two weeks, and I have no intention of stopping until it’s done. I’m giving myself May to write as much of this project as possible before going back to working on the book I have under contract. The playful spring warmth in the air is the perfect atmosphere for getting it written. I’m a little in love with the playlist I made for this one, so here it is for your listening pleasure.
That’s all I have for you this time, dear reader. Be safe and well until we two meet again!
